Bio

I've worked in the tech sector for about 20 years, progressing from web design to managing software development teams and providing scalable, effective solutions. As an experienced software engineering manager at MongoDB, I oversee top-performing teams adept at creating scalable, robust, and high-quality software systems.

My expertise extends to headless CMS platforms like Contentstack and Contentful, as well as web technologies such as React, Node.js, and TypeScript. I am proficient in React frameworks like Next.js and Gatsby, which I have used to develop fast, mobile-first websites that prioritize flexibility and performance. I have a proven track record of guiding teams through complex product life cycles, from ideation to launch, while maintaining a focus on technical excellence and user satisfaction.

I strongly desire to promote a culture of cooperation, effectiveness, and creativity in my role as software engineering manager. My leadership focuses on strategic planning, organizational growth, and ongoing improvement. My strategy strikes a balance between the demands of quality, accountability, and on-time delivery, ensuring that our work is always in line with user requirements and corporate objectives.

I enjoy fostering upbeat, encouraging situations that allow people and groups to develop, experiment, and push the envelope of what is conceivable. To produce quantifiable, data-driven outcomes that thrill teams and consumers, I am motivated to cultivate talent, mentor engineers, and solve challenging problems. My leadership is more than just technical.

Projects.

Grubhub

I led the development of a cool campaign built around a design system I created, which I called "The Cookbook Design System." The project used a solid mix of tech like React, TypeScript, Storybook, Rollup, and Styled Components. I paid close attention to detail, making sure each component was accessible and responsive, so the user experience was smooth across all devices. This design system wasn't just a set of reusable UI elements—it was a strong framework that followed strict web accessibility standards and worked well on different devices.

To make sure everything worked as expected, I ran thorough testing and validation, ensuring all components met accessibility guidelines. Using Storybook, I built an interactive UI library that made it super easy for other developers to use and customize the components for various projects. This project really showcased my technical skills and my commitment to building scalable, accessible, and reusable UI solutions.

Spotify Ad Studio

As the first front-end web developer on Spotify's Ad Studio project, I was tasked with developing 30-second audio ad prototypes to engage listeners across music and podcasts. I worked closely with the Ad Studio Design Systems team and combined HTML, CSS, Styled Components, and ReactJS to make sure my features mix in perfectly with the existing design.

My proficiency with front-end development and my emphasis on user-centered design were greatly enhanced by this position. The Ad Studio Design Systems are now more reliable and adaptable thanks to my work. I ensured that the audio advertisements felt like a seamless part of the entire user experience by seamlessly integrating them into the Spotify app, which increased user engagement and the project's success.

Spotify Ad Formats

I used my years of front-end engineering knowledge to transform the ad experience for free-tier Spotify customers in this crucial project. I skillfully included a range of ad types into the Spotify player using a carefully chosen tech stack of HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript. I carefully considered every element when designing these advertisements to minimize user interference and maximize ad performance metrics by integrating them perfectly into the current user experience.

In order to connect the new ad formats with business objectives while maintaining the quality of the user experience, my cooperation with stakeholders was essential. This project demonstrates my profound technical understanding and my capacity to combine business requirements with the best UI/UX design.

Spotify Website

I contributed significantly to the ambitious makeover of Spotify's website (2014) by drawing on my years of experience as a seasoned front-end web programmer. A comprehensive tech stack comprising HTML, CSS, LESS, Bootstrap, and JavaScript served as the foundation for my efforts. My expertise in front-end technologies was essential to creating a website that not only looked excellent but also operated well, so I wasn't just another team member.

I concentrated on creating a user interface that flawlessly combined high-level functionality with visual aesthetics while collaborating with cross-functional teams. In the end, this meant improving load times and guaranteeing strong mobile responsiveness, which raised the bar for user experience.

Spotify Hack Week

I created a customisable theming feature during the first Spotify Hack Week 2015, which allows users to customize the look of their Spotify desktop player through the settings menu.

A more customized listening experience is made possible by this user-centric feature, which enables users to express their individual style by choosing their favorite themes. I used JavaScript to dynamically change CSS tokens underneath, updating them with a user-selected Photoshop color scheme. This project demonstrated my mastery of front-end technology as well as my dedication to improving user customization and engagement.

Spotify Hack Project

Spotify Hack Week

Recipient of Spotify's esteemed Hack Week (2014) award and voted as the "Top Fan Favorite Greatest Hack Project," my innovative initiative involved seamlessly integrating tablature into Spotify's desktop player.

This groundbreaking feature empowers users to view real-time guitar tablatures in sync with the tracks they're listening to. Beyond its technical brilliance, the project serves a noble cause it actively promotes music education and offers musicians an intuitive way to learn and master their favorite songs.
